Dedication of the Robert Smith Family Dorm

Soccer Field Dedication
On June 10, 2017, we celebrated the dedication of the new soccer field! Zanmi Beni now has a wonderful, fully-enclosed turf soccer field where the children can play day and night. When the children saw the soccer field for the first time, they squealed with joy. In addition to the state-of-the-art turf field, we were able to add turf and a fence to the playground and install lighting for nighttime play. The children absolutely love their new soccer field and it will be a cherished part of Zanmi Beni for many years to come!

Both groups worked to collect presents for the staff and 64 children of Zanmi Beni. The list included essentials such as flashlights and batteries to special gifts like jewelry, dolls, and clothes. PIH Board Member Chef Jody Adams Visit to Zanmi Beni to work with cooks and bakers
In September 2015, I spent 2 days at Zanmi Beni working with the cooks at Pwason Beni and Boulanjri Beni. I had been invited by Loune to bring recipes to the team, using familiar and available Haitian ingredients in new ways.
At Pwason Beni, 6 or 7 of us gathered around the prep table with knives and cutting boards and concentrated on knife-work for the recipes. Working together we chopped lots of onions, garlic and tomatoes. The cooks were focused, accurate and enthusiastic. The tone was serious in the beginning as we were getting to know each other and learning to ...
