Christmas is a special time of year.

Christmas is a special time of year, allowing us to celebrate family and friends and the feeling of togetherness the season brings.  Christmas is also a perfect time to give back to others.  Over the month of December the dedicated volunteers at Friends of Zanmi Beni as well as our dear friends and supporters at Peace, Love, World did just that!  Both groups worked to collect presents for the staff and 64 children of Zanmi Beni.  The list included essentials such as flashlights and batteries to special gifts like jewelry, dolls, and clothes. Advisory Board members Angie Cilkin and Carolyn Harris spearheaded the project on the Zanmi Beni side and ...

PIH Board Member Chef Jody Adams Visit to Zanmi Beni to work with cooks and bakers

In September 2015, I spent 2 days at Zanmi Beni working with the cooks at Pwason Beni and Boulanjri Beni. I had been invited by Loune to bring recipes to the team, using familiar and available Haitian ingredients in new ways. At Pwason Beni, 6 or 7 of us gathered around the prep table with knives and cutting boards and concentrated on knife-work for the recipes. Working together we chopped lots of onions, garlic and tomatoes. The cooks were focused, accurate and enthusiastic. Democratic Leader Pelosi Leads Congressional Delegation Visit to Zanmi Beni

On Saturday, February 21, 2015 Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and a congressional delegation visited Zanmi Beni. Miami Friends of Zanmi Beni Dinner Raises Money for School Supplies

Over 100 people gathered at Calamari Restaurant in Coconut Grove on September 25, 2014 to support Zanmi Beni.  This year's  annual dinner was hosted by Carolyn Borlenghi Harris and Malena Giro.  Funds raised at this festive dinner provided for back packs, books, school supplies and school uniforms for the children of Zanmi Beni. Grateful thanks to all who participated!
